I am planning a trip to Belfast and then to Dublin for my partners 30th birthday. He has always wanted visit the Giants Causeway! I'm struggling to plan three days, I was thinking a day in the city of Belfast then rent a car and drive to the coast. Is everything closed in Belfast on Sunday? Can anyone recommend somewhere nice to visit something special to do while there? Thank You – welcomed to all suggestions, please!
Belfast is open Sundays from 1pm – 6pm. Be sure to visit Victoria Square and climb to the top for a view Belfast. You can also visit St Georges Market, not far from downtown Victoria. Definitely rent a car and travel along the coast of Antrim (pick up signals from Larne coastal route), which takes you to the Giant's Causeway. The scenery is incredible. Also worth a trip early in the morning (in my opinion) is the peninsula Ard (morning 'arm' protruding from the eastern part of Northern Ireland) you can take a ferry across Strangford to Portaferry a few kilos and Practical travel leaves you in the mountains of Mourne, Silent Valley, Newcastle (John Macs chip shop is a favorite of ours!)
